Shine She Must follows the USS Cobia as she embarks on a rare and historic journey to dry dock for the first time in nearly 30 years. On September 7, 2025, the National Historic Landmark submarine departed her homeport for Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, where she underwent a comprehensive inspection and critical preservation work to ensure her future. Through stunning footage and the voices of those dedicated to her care, this documentary highlights the importance of preserving one of America’s WWII submarines and honoring the veterans, shipbuilders, and communities whose sacrifices made her story possible. More than a maintenance project, Shine She Must is a testament to the ongoing commitment required to protect our shared history for generations to come.
