Experience one of the greatest silent films of all time, Buster Keaton’s Sherlock, Jr., with live musical accompaniment by the Carthage College Wind Orchestra. A film projectionist longs to be a detective, and puts his elementary skills to work when he is framed by a rival for stealing his girlfriend’s father’s pocketwatch. Highly regarded for its remarkable dream sequence, inventive plot, and comic stuntwork, this 45-minute film packs every second with delight. Complementing the action is the music of Don Gillis, in a score assembled from the composer’s many outstanding works for band. Known for his lighthearted compositions, Gillis’ works are a delightful background to the movie. A short prelude concert by the Wind Orchestra will set the stage for the film presentation.
