FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MANITOWOC, WI – The Capitol Civic Centre is thrilled to announce the return of the magic of the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) this summer with a charming production of the classic tale, “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” This immersive week-long theater workshop and performance, scheduled from July 27 to August 1, offers local students a professional stage experience that emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and the joy of storytelling.
In this whimsical adaptation, “dress for success” is advice taken to heart by an Emperor eager to impress. However, when fine clothes and the opinions of others start to overshadow the needs of the kingdom, trouble begins to brew. To help their leader find their way back to what truly matters, the Emperor’s true friends create a legendary “birthday suit” for a grand birthday parade. Through this hilarious and heartfelt journey, the Emperor—and the audience—learns the valuable lesson that sometimes “less is more.”
The program is open to all students entering 1st grade through 12th grade. Rehearsals will take place Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, from 1:00 PM to 5:15 PM daily. The week of work will culminate in two public performances on Saturday, August 1, at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Thanks to the generous support of the Helen Gajdys and Lester Reis Endowment Fund for Children, participation in this workshop is completely free for all students.
Tickets for the public performances will be available starting Monday, June 15, 2026, at 12:00 PM. To ensure accessibility for the entire community, the Capitol will use a “Pay-What-You-Like” system, in which every contribution directly supports the Capitol Civic Centre and its ongoing youth programming.
