He might be on a ten-foot unicycle, balancing step ladders, performing songs on the ukulele, or juggling – you never know what’s going to happen at a Fantastick Patrick show. David Engel’s Pirate School is a madcap, swashbuckling solo variety show created and performed by veteran New York physical comedian and actor David Engel. This riotous, interactive pirate escapade satisfies children’s universal curiosity for the briny buccaneers of yore while promoting everyday polite behavior and social courage.

Now in its 24th season, Pirate School has delighted thousands of families with a mischievous blend of improvisational clown theater and a signature brand of boisterous full-audience participation. The Little Mermen are the ultimate Disney tribute concert for Disney fanatics of all ages. The band’s repertoire covers all 80-plus years of the Disney canon, including favorites from “The Little Mermaid,” “Mary Poppins,” “Frozen,” and “Encanto.” The group performs in full costume with band members dressing up as characters from the films, touring nationally to sold-out crowds. Founded by singer/songwriter Alexis Babini, “The Little Mermen” throws enchanted events that are jam-packed with nostalgic fun and sing-alongs. Hailed by BuzzFeed and Time Out New York as the premiere Disney cover experience, they’ve won praise from none other than Disney.com and Alan Menken himself!

Thursday, February 16, 7 p.m., The Stars of the Peking Acrobats

For the last 32 years, The Peking Acrobats have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. They perform daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs and display their technical prowess in such arts as trick-cycling, precision tumbling, juggling, somersaulting, and gymnastics. They push the limits of human ability, defying gravity with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility, and control. Often accompanied by live musicians who skillfully play traditional Chinese instruments; the time-honored Chinese music coalesces with high-tech special effects and awe-inspiring acrobatic feats, creating an exuberant entertainment event with the festive pageantry of a Chinese Carnival.
