The Capitol Civic Centre has the perfect place for kids who love to sing! We have openings for the second semester starting in January.

Building on the success of the Summer Theatre Skills Camp this past June, the Capitol has created a regional Capitol Kids Choir. The choir is under the Direction of Susie Miller.

“We want kids who love to sing,” says Susie Miller Capitol Kids Choir Director. “ They will get to know and sing with kids from other schools throughout our area who also love to sing and have lots of fun.”

Susie Miller has taught music to students from kindergarten through senior adults. She is currently teaching piano and voice in her home and at UW Manitowoc, Susie and her husband Jim Miller are members of Appleton’s White Heron Chorale, a semi-professional choir. Both of them have been singing in choirs all of their lives, beginning in elementary school. Her goal for the singers in this choir is to start a tradition of singing that will bring a lifetime of enrichment for them.

“I am delighted to have someone the caliber of Susie Miller direct the program,” said Jim Kreutzberg the Executive Director of the Capitol Civic Centre. “Mrs. Miller fits our goal of providing high quality instruction to young people in programs designed to enhance their skill and enjoyment of the performing arts.”

The Capitol Kids Choir consists of approximately 30 young voices, both boys and girls, who are currently in fourth, fifth or sixth grade. The tuition for the 15 week Choir program is $50. Student  get a Kids Choir T-Shirt. Tuition assistance is available.

Miller says she likes to offer young singers an opportunity to experience the potential of their voices through singing many different styles of music, from standards to inspirational, from classical to music from the wealth of  new and exciting choral music currently being written for children.

“Parents will be offering their young singers an opportunity to get to know other kids who share their love of singing and to introduce them to different cultures through music of many lands.  The choir program will be designed to enhance the already fine music program in our local and regional public and parochial schools, said Miller.”

Interviews for the Capitol Kids Choir are set for January 4,5 &11. Call for appointment today at 683-2184. Rehearsals begin Tuesday January 12 and it runs from 6-7:30 PM
